Fund Rest

The Nonprofit burnout rate is 54% - the highest of any sector in the U.S. That’s due to the proliferation of misinformation about how nonprofits are funded and the perpetuation of the nonprofit poverty cycle that under-employs the nonprofit workforce

Together we can reduce this number

Fund Rest, my GiveBack Strategy, was established to help close the nonprofit mental and physical health gap in the U.S. We provide funding to help nonprofit leaders thrive—giving Executive Directors access to high-quality health insurance, including 10 weeks of paid vacation—so that they can REST. This is where I choose to focus my giving because I know that this is where my investment will make a tangible impact.

Rest helps the body repair and rebuild itself, reducing the risk of serious health problems like heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. Mental rest gives the mind a break from continuous cognitive activity and mental stimulation, allowing it to relax and recharge.

Nonprofit leaders deserve quality rest. So that they can do the work without getting burnt out.

This strategy also helps Executive Directors plan for retirement. Funding Rest acknowledges the sacrifice and hard work nonprofit leaders make to serve our country’s most marginalized communities. It allows our leaders to enjoy their golden years, and increase the pipeline of upcoming nonprofit leaders who expect work|life balance AND a retirement.

Nonprofit leaders have been praised for doing more with less, wearing 17 hats, and making something out of nothing. These expectations recycle worn out expectations of poverty that contribute to nonprofit leaders dying at their organizations. Forced to work nonstop to fund the less funded operations expenses, nonprofit leaders cannot afford healthcare, and retirement never reaches priority status, completely eliminating succession planning. Let’s use our powers for good!
